LKTYP Seeks Summer Drama School Assistant

The LKTYP Drama School has been in operation for 40 years and is led by the Director of Education & Participation and the Drama School Coordinator. Our annual eight-week summer programme is a perennial favourite enrolling over 300 young people during nine- and ten-day sessions. The Summer Drama School Assistant will be directly supervised on a daily basis by the Drama School Coordinator during four- and five-day workweeks (approximately 30-40 hours per week). This oversight will include goal- and task-setting and, in some cases, assigned projects. Our goal is to provide an Arts Administration or related field student an opportunity to expand their capacities as leaders, managers and administrators.

Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage, Obsidian Theatre Company is offering 4 paid apprenticeship positions as part of the 2009-10 season. Placements will occur between Autumn 2009 and Spring 2010.

Apprentices will be given the opportunity to work alongside noted members of the Canadian theatre community, including Obsidian Theatre company members. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
-Performing all duties assigned by the Technical Director
-The safe and efficient set up and strike of all theatre equipment on touring sites.
-The maintenance of theatrical touring equipment.
-May be required to operate a motor vehicle licensed to the theatre company.
-Approx. two weeks of overnight touring, mostly returning to Toronto the other dates.

Ruckus is looking for a bright, new face in the theatre world to direct its up-coming theatre production, Shakespeare in the Parkinglot: Twelfth Night. The show will take place 04/23/2009-04/26/2009. The candidate chosen will be responsible for most of the play’s creative direction, recruitment, rehearsals and to some extent publicity. We are looking for someone who can make a 15hr/week time commitment, provide regular up-dates to editors and be willing to put in extra hours closer to the event.
