Bad Dog Theatre Winter Teen Improv Class

The Teen Foundation Class is for students new to improv or those with experience outside of the Bad Dog. We will learn/review the basics of improvisation and introduce students to the fundamentals we draw on during subsequent sessions.

Students in our Teen Classes will have the opportunity to be a part of the creation of Bad Dog Theatre’s Young Company, an elite group of improvisers with an emphasis on public performances. The Young Company will be comprised of students and alumni of the Bad Dog Teen courses.

T-dot TORONTO-dance|opera|theatre|film-Project for Youth

T-dot is a FREE program that brings together Toronto arts organizations to provide hands-on workshops and arts experiences in dance, theatre, opera and film for youth ages 15 to 18. The program provides opportunities for youth who have an interest in the arts to meet others with similar interests and explore their own interpretations and perceptions.

There are two T-dot sessions, Fall and Spring. Students can apply for one, or both, depending on their schedule and availability.

TheatreKairos Call For Applicants

TheatreKairos is pleased to release a Call for Applicants to the 09|10 writers’circle.

Aimed at artists with a particular interest in writing for the stage, we are seeking five (5) passionate individuals with a desire to communicate, stretch and develop their writing skills, and support others to do the same. The writers’circle, now going into its third year, welcomes writers with various levels of writing experience, between the months of October to May. Over the 7-month period, writers stretch their artistic abilities to create an original piece of text. These new works may include, but are not limited to, plays, adaptations, and musicals. This program is free to all participants. Artists from all areas of the arts are highly encouraged to apply.

CBT Play Creation Unit

The CBT Play Creation Unit is a novice play creation program. It introduces participants to various approaches to making theatre. Through regular workshops and sessions with professional theatre artists, we help participants identify, cultivate and explore their creative voice. Each member will create a 10-15 minute piece of theatre that will be presented in CBT’s annual showcase of new work Tales from the Flipside at the end of February 2010.

Bloorcourt Graffiti Mural Program

The Graffiti Mural program is a two month visual arts program for young artists aged 15-21. All applicants must be able to commit 8-10 hrs a week (including Saturdays from 10am-4pm). Successful applicants will collaborate with emerging graffiti and visual artists on murals in the Bloorcourt Neighborhood, build and expand thier skills in aerosol and latex painting, participate in a short graffiti film / documentary, and possibly showcase thier work publically.

Requirements
-background in the visual / graffiti arts
-be able to work well with other artists (give and take feedback well)

Soulpepper’s Studio 55 Offers Free Program For Youth

Soulpepper’s Studio 55 is a program that takes youth ‘behind-the-scenes’ to get a greater understanding of our productions. The group experiences hands-on workshops with a Soulpepper artist, on-stage performances and post-show talkbacks with the cast. Each workshop explores the themes of the show and reveals unique insight on an aspect of theatre production such as direction, design or performance. The Studio 55 guest artists expose the preparation required in the studio before a final product appears on stage. In addition to providing a free workshop and theatre ticket, we provide a per diem for meals and TTC tickets for each session.

The AMY Project

The AMY Project is Artists Mentoring Youth, an educational arts project that nurtures the confidence and unique identity of underserved teenage girls through developing their cultural vocabulary and skills of healthy, creative self-expression. The AMY Project teaches tangible life skills, increases socialization and builds a sense of community.

The AMY Project is a free program offered to a diverse range of participants from the greater Toronto area. The participants are provided with TTC tickets, given the opportunity to attend live theatrical performances, share in a free weekly meal and earn volunteer hours and cash honorariums for performing. Most importantly, they are given the opportunity to speak out and share their stories with a public audience.

The Yonge Street Singers are a new group that has been formed to provide an opportunity for young men in their teens and twenties to get together and experience the joy of a cappella singing. We exist to have fun and develop our voices and our musical skills in four part harmony. There is no need to read music, nor is soloist singing ability required to be part of this group. We encourage the participation of all young men and boys who have an interest in singing.
